We believe people do their best thinking in spaces that are calm, reliable, and intentionally designed. We exist to transform the lives of people in no ordinary way and one such way is to support what builds their resilience to thrive as they walk through our doors.
The experience is simple: calm lighting, comfortable seating, reliable power and internet, access to refreshments, quiet conversations, and a culture that respects FOCUS. Our spaces are designed for young professionals building their careers, entrepreneurs shaping ideas, readers seeking calm, and researchers looking for a better environment to think and work.
We promise to do things differently: to learn from our mistakes, keep improving, and ensure your voice remains at the heart of every innovation we introduce.
Who we are
Founded by brothers with a shared passion for creating beautiful and purposeful spaces, we believe people deserve environments that are functional, carefully designed, and inspiring. North-East Nigeria has been shaped by years of conflict and limited economic opportunities: challenges that have delayed many dreams. That is why we are starting our first project in the region: a calm and affordable focus lounge designed to help people read, work, learn, connect, and imagine better possibilities. We understand that spaces alone cannot solve every challenge in the region. That is why we hope to work with local and international partners to provide broader support around learning,research access, personal development, enterprise, and community growth. As we grow, our ambition is to expand our impact while staying rooted in the needs and voices of the people we serve.
Meet the Founders
Mike is a co-founder of max. He holds a degree in Economics and brings a background in business management. His experience as a Project Manager for a hospitality business has given him practical insight into operations, customer experience, team coordination, and what it takes to create environments that people genuinely enjoy using. In his spare time, he enjoys drawing and continues to build his experience in website development.
Fredrick is a co-founder of max. He holds a master’s degree in Energy and Sustainability from the University of Southampton and has spent the last five years building practical experience and knowledge of the UK’s green energy regulations and energy systems. Earlier in his career in the UK, he worked for local governments and charities, supporting efforts to address fuel poverty and improve outcomes for some of the most vulnerable members of society. These experiences have shaped his interest in creating spaces that are not only visually appealing, but also energy-efficient, comfortable and practical for the people who use them. At max, he is particularly passionate about integrating energy efficiency and thermal comfort into the design of interior spaces.
